Our theme for girls camp this year was STRENGTH: Mind, Body and Spirit. On Monday we spent the day with the Laurels and did several activities with them that would help strengthen their minds. We went grocery shopping, we took a campus tour of Utah State University, we listened to a guest speaker, we ate a picnic lunch, we learned how to use a compass and we went rock repelling. It was seriously a lot of fun!
Tuesday morning we loaded up all of our camping gear and made our way up to Cinnamon Creek.
After arriving at our camp site we divided the Young Women into two teams and they were given their first physical challenge for the day...setting up their own tents! Once the girls successfully set up their tents and got settled we started our journey down to the reservoir...stopping periodically to do other strength challenges. The girls learned how to build their own shelters, start a fire, they learned the basic rules of recycling, they played the grocery game...matching prices to the correct food item, and finally the girls got to swim and canoe in the water! The girls all got along and learned how to work together as a team! Again...it was seriously a lot of fun!
Wednesday was pretty much spent playing games and just relaxing. The girls surprised us with wanting to hike up to Rosie's Mine...so off we went! It was a 3-mile hike and guess what?...the girls never complained. After our hike the leaders spent some time talking to the girls about how to strengthen themselves spiritually. Each one of us read a scripture and explained how the girls could apply it to their own lives...making themselves spiritually strong! We then gave the girls "solo time" where they could go off on their own to read their scriptures, write in their journals and also write notes of gratitude. Believe it or not...this is actually one of their most favorite activities to do while at girls camp. They love being on their own in nature...and who could argue with that?
We ended our camp with a yummy dinner and testimony meeting...which if you ever been to girls camp you know that it is by far the most spiritual experience ever for these Young Women! And this year was no exception! I had such a good time and what made it even more special for me was that Rob and Marissa were there too. Hopefully next year we can do it again!!!

Rachel, I am so glad you posted pictures from girls camp. It looks like you all had so much fun. I wish I would've been feeling well enough to go. :( The camp shirts look so cute! Thanks for sharing - Keesha
Rachel, How fun for Marissa to have BOTH parents at girls camp! I loved Girls Camp when I went as a youth & again when I was in the YW Presidency a few years ago. Such a blast! Kaitlyn is soooo looking forward to her first year of camp next year.
And where is Rob's pink and brown camp shirt?!
I have some really good memories from girls camp. Solo time was always one of my favorite times too. Looks like it was a great time. I am sure Marissa loved having alone time with you and Rob. It is nice to not have to share your parents every once in a while!!

Your pictures look like you had a great time...and what a neat experience to be able to be up there with Marissa for her first year. She will remember those times that you were able to share together. What a fun calling! It probably has its challenges but girls camp is a "pay day". I am glad that you had fun and that Rob was able to come up and be the "Priesthood Leader"!!! Did he get fishing in?
Girls camp was a rewarding experience for me both physically and spiritually. The highlight being when Marissa felt the influence of the Holy Ghost bear powerful witness of the truthfulness of the restored gospel. It is wonderful seeing her develop into a marvelous young woman. Her mother has done a fantastic job raising her. FYI - not as much fishing as I had hoped to do, but enough to satisfy.
